After School Activities
After school clubs are a very important part of the 24 hour curriculum. When the children come out from lessons at 4.00 pm, the care staff are waiting to meet them and to hear about the school day.
There is a whole range of activities, both on site and in the local community. Our children go to Cubs, Beavers and Brownies, or go swimming in the local pool, or to the park. The older children go to the local Youth Club every Tuesday after prep, where they can play snooker, table tennis, football or disco dance. While they are escorted to and from the club in the same way as local children are, they are left alone to join in and put into practice their communication skills.
Horse-riding has always been popular and a local riding school provides an excellent level of tuition, as well as being great fun.
For the children who are not attending outside clubs, we have a marvellous time playing hide and seek, cricket, football, rounders, participating in ball games, nature-spotting, cooking, needlework and many other activities. All these things help children to grow in confidence, have fun and keep fit.
