Mary Hare School's Aim

“By listening, deaf children learn to speak for themselves.”

Our Objectives are:

  • To work co-operatively with parents and LEAs to meet the special educational needs of able but severely and profoundly deaf children

  • To provide high quality, broad and balanced curricula backed up by excellent support structures which develop the whole child

  • To champion the auditory oral approach to learning in the belief that it is most likely to foster the educational development and subsequent integration of deaf children into the population at large

  • To promote the highest standards of education for deaf children, thus enabling them to realise their full potential

  • To contribute to the sum of knowledge about deaf children’s learning

  • In pursuit of the above, to become recognised as a Centre of Excellence in teacher education and the provision of other services in support of the learning of deaf children
