Residential Care

Few parents of young children would nowadays choose to have them living away from home. However, for some parents, this is necessary if their deaf child's special educational needs are to be met.

A small minority of parents have been able to move their home, to live close to Mary Hare Primary School, so that their children can attend as day pupils, but for most this is unrealistic. However, because the school recognises the crucial role that parents and the home environment play in a child's education and general development, the school offers only weekly boarding.

Children travel to their homes on Friday after school, and return to school on Monday mornings, thus spending only four nights at school each week.
